📘 Concept
A linear equation in two variables can be written as ax + by + c = 0.
- Each solution (x, y) satisfies the equation.
- The graph is a straight line.
- x-intercept → set y=0.
- y-intercept → set x=0.
Two equations together form a system:
a₁x + b₁y + c₁ = 0
a₂x + b₂y + c₂ = 0
- They meet in one point → one solution (consistent)
- They are parallel → no solution (inconsistent)
- They are the same line → ∞ solutions (dependent)
